• The sun commonly blasts charged particles into space, but similar outbursts from other stars are mysteriously rare. Strong magnetic fields could be keeping those blasts in check.

  • Great to be at @EmbryRiddle today to highlight Florida’s leadership in advanced air mobility (AAM).

I signed legislation last year to recognize AAM as an official mode of transportation in Florida. Now, we’re building the infrastructure to test these emerging technologies. AAM—including electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft—could soon be used for passenger air-taxi service, cargo delivery, medical transportation, and emergency response missions.

Embry-Riddle, as the top university in the nation for aerospace and aviation, is an indispensable partner in this effort. Today, I was proud to announce that construction on much needed improvements along Clyde Morris Boulevard is starting two years ahead of schedule. This fully funded $56 million investment will relieve congestion, mitigate flooding risks, and improve pedestrian safety for the Embry-Riddle campus community.

  • Given the location of the @Space_Station at the time of the total solar eclipse today, we saw only a partial eclipse, with a peak of around 18% sun coverage. Here’s how it looked from a window in the Russian segment about 45 minutes ago. Photo of the sun taken with a Nikon Z9, 800mm lens with 1.4x teleconverter and a solar filter.
